If you are picking us up, but the signal has an unacceptable level of "hiss" to it, try switching your receiver to the "Mono" position.
You may get better results by using an inexpensive outdoor antenna. If you use an outdoor antenna to pick up TV channels 2-13 it will also work for KELB. . When pointing the antenna, remember that the narrow end is the receiving end, and it should be aimed at the Gauthier and Nelson road intersection.
Some types of radios like alarm clocks or some portables may have only an internal antenna. They often don't provide connectors for hooking up an external antenna. Many radios use the power cord as an antenna. Make sure the cord is fully extended. It may be helpful to experiment with your radio placement. Reception problems can sometimes be solved by moving your radio to a different location. Only a few inches can often make a difference. If you can place your radio close to a window, that will help.
If you
are trying to pick us up on your car radio, the "Scan" or Seek"
button will not always work. Depending on where you are, the
“Seek” “Scan” may skip over our signal. It is
best to manually tune your radio to 100.5.
During certain times of the year, for short periods, there are two types of interference which may cause you trouble in hearing our low-power signal. These are Tropospheric Propagation, and Sporadic E-Layer Propagation. Both of these conditions allow much more powerful stations from long distances to overpower our weak signal, especially if you live on the edge of our coverage area.
